National Association of State Boards of Accountancy

Group of CPA'sThe National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) serves as a forum for the 55 member boards of accountancy representing each State and the jurisdictions of Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Washington D.C.

Over a half-million CPAs are currently licensed or certified by the boards, and NASBA sponsors a variety of programs and services designed to enhance the effectiveness of its member boards.

State Boards of Accountancy

State Boards of Accountancy work independently to ensure that qualified persons and firms are licensed to practice public accountancy. The boards also ensure and enforce appropriate standards of competency and practice, including ethics, objectivity, and independence.

To practice as a CPA, you must obtain a CPA license in the state in which you are planning to practice. Each state has its own rules and procedures for licensure. NASBA’s Accountancy Licensing Library (ALL) is a web site containing all relevant information and application forms necessary to obtain a license in any state.
