Tim is a nationally recognized expert and speaker on a variety of accounting and tax topics, and has appeared as keynote speaker for several Fortune 100 companies as well as many national associations. He has frequently been called upon over the past twenty years to present accounting and tax topics to large groups, organizations, and corporations, accounting firms and in legal proceedings.
Tim is a partner in Gearty & McIntyre, LLP, CPA, a firm which specializes in business advisory services, litigation support and forensic accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member and trustee of the New Jersey Society of Public Accountants. He holds a BS in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and both a MBA in Finance and Law Degree (JD) from Seton Hall University. Known as one of Becker Professional Education’s most dynamic instructors, Peter Olinto serves as a National Lead Instructor for Becker Professional Education.
Following his graduation Magna Cum Laude from Pace University in 1990, Olinto completed Becker’s CPA Exam Review — his initial connection with the company—and passed all four parts of the CPA Exam on the first attempt. He then worked as an auditor for Deloitte & Touche and earned his Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1995.
After gaining experience as a tax attorney for Ernst and Young, Olinto spent almost ten years teaching law, accounting, financial statement analysis, and tax at both the graduate and undergraduate levels at Fordham’s business school. He began his career at Becker in 1998 and takes an active role not only as a faculty member, but also in the development and marketing of new course and product offerings.

John Lord is the State of California’s Regional Lead Faculty for Becker Professional Education. In addition to teaching live CPA classes, John is responsible for helping to recruit, train, and develop CPA instructors throughout the state. During his almost 20 years with Becker, John has become one of the organization’s most popular and effective instructors — nationwide. His expertise on the exam, commitment to his students, and real world experience are all qualities his students cite as keys to their own success on the CPA Exam. John is also a Professor at San Francisco State University as well as a national instructor for Becker’s Continuing Professional Education focusing on governmental accounting and auditing topics.
For nearly 30 years, John has also served as a Senior Audit Manager for the Government Accountability Office which is the audit, evaluation, and investigative arm of the U.S. Congress. In his capacity with the GAO, John has led audits of the Bureau of Public Debt, Federal Reserve and IRS. He has also led work with the GAO reviewing the accounting and auditing standards setting process in the United States where he was actively involved with the Auditing Standards Board and Financial Accounting Standards Board. John holds a Bachelors of Science Degree from the California State University in Hayward, California and is an active U.S. Certified Public Accountant and a former President of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting.

Ben Jones exemplifies his belief that the CPA and CFA credentials are, in his words, a “passport to anywhere.” His career has literally taken him around the world and given him a broad international perspective on business.
As a CPA, he began his career managing client audit work and doing tax consulting for Ernst and Young. He then went on to serve as an international auditor in more than 20 countries for the Tupperware Corporation. Later, as senior financial analyst for that company’s European region, he won significant acclaim for his successful efforts in revitalizing the United Kingdom and Irish markets.
While working in Europe, Jones earned his MBA from the University of Chicago’s Executive International Program in Barcelona, Spain. He was awarded his CFA charter in 2007. Jones also serves as the Vice President of Healthcare for Becker Professional Education.

Charles Edward Falk collaborates with Becker to develop and deliver continuing professional education courses for tax professionals. Charles is a lawyer, Certified Public Accountant and a university professor. He advises U.S. and International law and accounting firms, and trust companies on domestic and international tax and other legal related matters. His international practice includes both inbound and outbound transactions to and from the United States including structuring commercial transactions, gift and estate planning for U.S. and non-resident aliens, U.S. beneficiaries of foreign trusts and asset protection planning.
His domestic practice includes business formations, business reorganizations, taxation of financial instruments and securities, bankruptcy taxation, transfer tax planning, tax litigation and other IRS related matters. Michael Brown is the Director of US Accounting Operations with Becker Professional Education and has extensive experience in public accounting, corporate accounting and education. Michael started out his career with Ernst & Young in their Atlanta assurance practice working with clients in manufacturing, financial services and retail. Following that, Michael spent several years in corporate accounting, gaining experience as a controller in both the real estate and service fields. Michael draws on both the variety of experience and variety of industries as he transitioned to education with Becker.
As the Director of US Accounting Operations with Becker, Michael has overall responsibility for managing Becker’s Live and LiveOnline classes in the United States as well as Becker’s academic support program. Michael also has a passion for teaching, serving as a National Instructor for both Becker’s CPA Review and Continuing Professional Education products.

Tom Cox is a controller for Public Risk Underwriters of Florida, Inc. (PRU), a Brown & Brown subsidiary that offers accounting and underwriting support to insurance trusts servicing governments and governmentally funded not for profit organizations in Florida. Prior to joining PRU, Tom’s experience includes nearly twenty years as the chief financial officer of the Act, Corp., a not-for-profit community mental heath center in Daytona Beach, and, before that, about ten years at Ernst & Young where he was an audit manager specializing in governmental and not-for profit accounting and auditing. Tom has also been an instructor for Becker Professional Review in Orlando since 1990 and been involved with various elements of either course editing and updates or course development since 1991 including governmental auditing.

Melisa Galasso, CPA, is the Lead Instructor in North Carolina for Becker Professional Education. She oversees the CPA Review instructors in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh. She is also active in writing and teaching Continuing Professional Education courses for Becker.
In addition to her work for Becker, Melisa is a Senior Manager in the Audit Professional Practices Department in a Regional accounting firm. In this role, she assists with technical issues and quality control of the firm’s assurance services practice. She also works in the firm’s training department developing Continuing Professional Education (CPE) ranging from newsletter articles to webinars. She monitors regulatory bodies for changes in auditing and accounting guidance and assists the Firm and its clients in implementing the updated guidance.
Melisa received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and International Business and a minor in French from Georgetown University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA), and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA). Melisa serves on the Board of NCACPA’s Charlotte Chapter and is chair of the A&A Committee for the NCACPA. She was recognized as a Super CPA by Virginia Business Magazine in 2007 and received the Women to Watch – Emerging Leader Award from the NCACPA and AICPA. In her current role, she oversees the development of new courses and ensures that courses on the catalog are updated for current changes in accounting guidance and tax laws. Patrice serves as an instructor for Becker’s tax continuing education courses and writes content for Becker’s CPA exam and ACCA exam review courses.
Patrice received her Bachelor’s degree and Master of Accountancy (with a specialization in Taxation) from The University of Georgia and holds a CPA license in the state of Georgia. After graduating from UGA, Patrice started her career in public accounting at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Atlanta and was there for six years. Patrice’s clients were primarily publicly traded manufacturers. Patrice focused on federal and state consolidated tax returns, accounting for income taxes, research and development tax credit projects, and federal tax research and technical memo preparation.Patrice left PwC as a tax manager to work directly for the tax director of Harland Clarke. With Harland Clarke, she continued her focus on tax provisions and federal and state income tax compliance.
After her time in industry, Patrice was invited to enter into academia. She spent two years teaching tax courses at the undergraduate and graduate level at The University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, and four years teaching accounting and taxation courses at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. Patrice has taught a variety of courses including. In 2013, Patrice received the Vulcan Materials Company Teaching Excellence Award at Wesleyan College.
