Capitalization of Interest Period

The capitalization of interest period is the period during which construction period interest is capitalized. The period begins when expenditures for the asset have been made, when activities necessary to get the asset ready for its intended use are in progress, and when interest costs are being incurred. The period ends when the asset is substantially complete and ready for its intended use. See also construction period interest and weighted average of accumulated expenditures.
