CPA Exam International Locations

International CPA Exam Testing Locations

The CPA Exam is arguably the most in-demand accounting designation in the United States, and it can be worth pursuing even for international students. The path for non-U.S. citizens to take the CPA Exam and become a certified public accountant isn’t easy, but Becker Professional Education provides the resources necessary to support you through it. Hundreds of our CPA candidates choose this option every year, and many Watt Sells award winners are international candidates.

This page will explain the two options available to international students, as well as explicitly lay out all of the CPA Exam international locations.

International Options

Option 1: Apply for the International Qualification Examination (IQEX)

The IQEX allows qualifying international students to bypass the U.S. CPA Exam and attain U.S. CPA licensure through reciprocity. The IQEX covers ethics, professional and legal responsibilities, business law and taxation pertaining to U.S. accounting. Learn more about the IQEX here, and keep in mind there is an application fee of $835 USD.

Option 2: CPA Exam for international students

First, select a participating U.S. jurisdiction and contact the board of accountancy there. Then, receive your notice to schedule (NTS) and schedule your CPA Exam.

Please note that some U.S. jurisdictions do not currently participate in the international administration of the CPA Exam. These include Alabama, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), Delaware, Idaho, Kentucky, New Jersey, North Carolina and the Virgin Islands.

All jurisdictions are not the same. International students should compare jurisdictions before making their final decision. View state-by-state requirements here.
