Coefficient of Determination

In regression analysis, the coefficient of determination (R2) is the proportion of the total variation in the dependent variable explained by the independent variable. Its value lies between zero and 1. The greater the coefficient of determination, the better the fit of the regression line. See also regression analysis and coefficient of correlation and standard error of the estimate.
