Intercompany Profit on Fixed Assets

The gain or loss on the intercompany sale of a depreciable asset is unrealized from a consolidated financial statement perspective until the asset is sold to an outsider. Both the gain/loss on the intercompany sale and the extra or decreased accumulated depreciation of the acquired asset are eliminated in preparing consolidated financial statements.
