Transport Layer (Layer 4)
The layer responsible for the reliable delivery of data between two devices on a network and error detection and recovery. Protocols used in this layer include TCP, User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), and Transport Layer Security (TLS). See also Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model.
