Tara Fisher has been practicing international tax for over 15 years. Her professional background includes working for the U.S. Congress Joint Committee on Taxation, the national tax practice of Pricewaterhouse Coopers, and the University of Pittsburgh. During her time with Congress, Tara worked on the Senate Finance Committee's investigation of Enron Corporation and assisted with the ratification of bilateral income tax treaties with the United Kingdom, Japan, and Australia. While working for PwC, Tara was stationed abroad in London, where she advised European companies investing in the United States. Tara's extensive international and government experience led to the creation of two new courses at the University of Pittsburgh's Katz Graduate School of Business--Tax Policy and International Tax. Tara is a Certified Public Accountant in the states of Pennsylvania and Virginia and holds both a Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of Virginia
Christine Footit is currently a Senior Stakeholder Liaison in the Communications and Stakeholder Outreach unit of the IRS. She works with tax professionals, industry and trade associations, small business owners, as well as, in conjunction with other Federal, State and local government agencies. She started working for the IRS in January 1991as a Revenue Officer in Collection. Her experience includes 7 years in general field collection, 8 years in Offer in Compromise, 4 years in Abusive Tax Avoidance Transactions and 8 years in Stakeholder Liaison.
Tim Gearty is the Editor-in-Chief for Becker Professional Education. In addition to his editorial leadership, Tim also serves as National Lead Instructor for Becker. Tim is a nationally recognized expert and speaker on a variety of accounting and tax topics, and has appeared as keynote speaker for several Fortune 100 companies as well as many national associations. He has frequently been called upon over the past twenty years to present accounting and tax topics to large groups, organizations, and corporations, accounting firms and in legal proceedings. Tim is a partner in Gearty & McIntyre, LLP, CPA, a firm which specializes in business advisory services, litigation support and forensic accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member and trustee of the New Jersey Society of Public Accountants. He holds a BS in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and both a MBA in Finance and Law Degree (JD) from Seton Hall University. Tim is a member of the New Jersey and American Bar Associations.
Carl Heintz has over 40 years’ experience as a CPA in several states. He was a tax manager at Ernst & Young, a partner in a several local CPA firms and has started and grown several CPA firms.
He's been a consultant to a variety of Fortune 100 corporations, such as BP and Cigna, and many smaller companies, ranging from one-person “solopreneurs” to emerging public companies.
Mr. Heintz is a nationally recognized speaker and author for several nationally known CPE providers. He has also been an instructor in taxation, accounting and data processing at the University of California, Los Angeles, University of Southern California and several community colleges. He is the author of dozens of published articles and three books, as well as serving on the editorial board for numerous tax, accounting and technology publications.
Steven Jager, CPA, is the founder and Principal of Steven L. Jager, An Accountancy Corporation, specializing in tax controversies and accountancy services to individuals and closely-held businesses. With over 37 years of tax work experience, Steve is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; the California Society of Certified Public Accountants; the Society of California Accountants, and the American Bar Association (associate). He is also an Associate Member of the California State Bar, Taxation Section and actively serves on the State Bar Committee on Tax Procedure and Litigation. Steve is admitted to practice in the United States Tax Court. He holds a Masters Degree in Taxation from California State University, Northridge, and his B.A. Degree from UCLA. He is an adjunct Professor at Cal State Northridge and an Instructor at UCLA Extension.
Stan Pollock, CPA, earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge in 1980. He now runs a two office tax, accounting and consulting practice in Oakland and San Francisco, California. The practice focuses on high net worth individuals and small businesses, providing quality, personalized financial and tax guidance. Stan has taught continuing education courses to practitioners throughout the country on a regular basis for over 10 years. Stan has been a regular guest on a local radio talk show discussing taxes and has been quoted several times in local papers. He previously taught accounting courses in junior colleges in Southern California.
John M. Stevko has over 40 years of professional experience as a tax practitioner, national seminar instructor, writer, and business owner. John began his career with what is now a “Big 4” public accounting firm before founding a local CPA firm in Beaverton, Oregon. At the same time, John began speaking for Gear Up Tax seminars, eventually becoming a managing partner of the business. John has lectured on tax law and healthcare reform throughout the country at national conferences and in-house for top 100 CPA firms and the large banking industry. John is a graduate of the University of California at Davis.
Richard H. Tami, CPA, JD, is a sole practitioner in Belleair Bluffs, Florida. He is admitted to practice law in all of the Florida courts, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the United States Tax Court. He represents personal representatives and trustees, and concentrates his law practice in the areas of estate planning, trust administration and probate law. Before practicing law, he practiced public accounting with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Company, and was the controller of a public company with SEC reporting obligations.
Jerry is the Managing Director – Investment Officer, Brand Manager at Rouleau-Bevans-Corleto Investment Consulting Group of Wells Fargo Advisors. He began his career with Wells Fargo Advisors in 1987 and is responsible for providing investment planning services to select private investors and their families as well as reinsurance and retirement plan clients. Jerry is married with two children and enjoys photography, golf, travel and spending time with his family and friends. He is a graduate of Oregon State University.
Shawn is owner of Higley Financial, LLC, a full-service financial advisory firm in Portland, Oregon that serves individuals, families and businesses. Higley Financial is also one of 150+ Owner-Firms of Lion Street, Inc., a national partner network headquartered in Austin, Texas. Shawn is an experienced wealth management executive who has served 29 years as a leader and wealth advisor in some of the largest financial services firms in the U.S., including Principal Financial Group, US Bank Private Client Group, and Wells Fargo. Shawn is a graduate of Oregon State University, where he met his wife and business partner, Leslie.
