I know what you’re thinking – why should I care about the Regulation Exam changes? Will they really affect how I prepare? The answer is a resounding “yes”! As covered in our last Becker Pinnacle article, the REG Exam changes are so significant that they change the material that you cover in your CPA exam preparation. Because of this, we recommend you consider taking REG before the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) has a major impact in 2019.
There’s plenty of reasons to take the REG exam before the end of 2018. The TCJA is still fresh – colleges have not started teaching its implications. Similarly, employers and clients have only recently begun implementing the TCJA. Most importantly, there’s no exam history detailing exactly how the AICPA will test the TCJA. We have a general idea of how things will change, but don’t exactly know those specific changes.
Still considering the wait? There are a few reasons for that, too. Waiting until 2019 to take REG offers ample opportunity to prepare and gain more knowledge about the TCJA. If you’re ineligible to sit for the exam in 2018, you can start preparing with Becker for the changes in 2019!
If you’re planning to wait until 2019 to take the Regulation Exam, we’ve got you covered! Stay tuned to the Becker Pinnacle to learn how we’re tackling specific changes to REG from the TCJA.
