How hard is the CPA Exam? From Q1 2024 - Q1 2025, the overall pass rate was just over 50%, which shows that the exam is difficult, but certainly not impossible. But this number doesn’t tell the whole story. To do that, we’re providing CPA Exam pass rates by section and a historical comparison of pass rates. Plus, you’ll learn how Becker Exam Day ReadySM students perform compared to other students, and why some pass rate claims may be misleading.
CPA Exam pass rates: Industry-wide averages by section
As mentioned above, the Q1 2024 - Q2 2025 CPA Exam pass rate for all test takers was just over 50%, but there are significant fluctuations across both exam sections and over time, as illustrated by this chart:

The numbers tell the story—the CPA Exam pass rate for Becker's Exam Day ReadySM students is significantly higher than all other students who prepare either on their own or with another exam review provider. In the case of FAR and BAR, the pass rate is 81% higher!

CPA Exam pass rate promises vs the real numbers
Some exam review providers maintain that their CPA Exam pass rates are around 90%: UWorld has published a 94% pass rate1, Gleim a 91% pass rate2, and Surgent an 88% pass rate3. However, it’s important to review the facts to verify if these claims are accurate.
