Attachment (of a security interest)

In the context of the Secured Transactions Article of the UCC, attachment occurs when a security interest becomes effective between a creditor and a debtor. Attachment requires an agreement between the creditor and debtor to create a security interest; the creditor must give value and the debtor must have rights in the collateral.
